Stampede
Not a strange term for many of those who have gone into some gathering or the other.
Mobs are calm, quietly work their way back to their homes. Stampedes by definition means a crowd running madly without any intention in mind. It starts off with few men running to do something, this ignites the dynamite crowd to run widly into one another. This effect is so spontaneous that with in seconds one can see the whole crowd frenziedly walking over their own dead bodies.
This is not just a theoretical term, we can find plently cases when thousands lost their lives. Few days back we heard the tragic incident of Haj. The incident happens every year with nearly hundreds of people murdering themselves in such a holy place like Haj. In 2000 it was recorded that a peak of 1800 odd men and women were killed while offering their worships. And this year the trend continues with 360 odd men dieing and more than 1000 injuring themselves for no reason. In Chennai no one expected to have a stampede at a place where food was being distributed for the flood affected victims.
I dont think such stampedes are 100% out of our control if the administration can do some thinking on avoiding such holocausts. Take the case of Tirupathi where lakhs of devotees visit the temple on the hills of Tirumala. Not even a single time we find such stampedes. The adminstration there has taken lot of care and has devoted its resources in making the pilgrimage safe and stampede free.
With over 25 lakhs of people visiting Haj at this time of the year the administration should make proper arrangements for accomodating atleast double the actual size of the pilgrims. If arrangements are not made to check out such simple problems then time will come when people will not fear to drive their bike at 80 but will definelty abhor to attend mass gatherings!!

Murder in the Womb
I like to read the editorial of The Times Of India. And i am impressed by the way they give innovative solution to the everyday problems like female foeticide.
Though i am no specialist in this area, i can surely give you the link which deals with it. I got inspired by this article in TOI

which gives a good way to stop this barbaric practice. First method is to expemt tax for those who have a girl child. Secondly give girls free education. Lastly to root out this problem government along with other social groups should spread awarness among the masses to eradicate such inhumane system.

Men are from Mars Women are from Venus by John Gray
Book Review
This book talks about the differences Men and women have. And how these differences effect their marital life. Men who are from mars like to spend time alone when they are frustrated and women like to spend their time discussing their problem with some one who they love. And no one knows these differences. Due to this their marital life is strained and this leads to divorce.
Author who is an expert in this area writes about how we should tackle these differences of the opposite sex and how we can modify ourselves to understand the feelings of the other.
This book is must for all those who want to have a stable marital life and also to those bachelors who are going to tie the knot in near future.

Freakonomics: Book Review
Freakonomics : A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything
For those who havent read the book. I would like to write a review on this book.
If you are a aficionado of economics then you will definetly praise this book but if you are not this book will definetly interest you.
Freakonomics name comes to the mind of the author as there is no unifying theme for this book. Only thing which we can find common is the underlying economics.
Book starts with some vague and never asked questions which i atleast never thought or never even heard some one discussing. In the following chapters he tries to find the answer of these questions. Some questions which i found most interesting was what is common between a sumo wrestler and a school teacher, why do drug dealers still leave with their mothers etc...
The book suggests that many difficult questions can be answered in a correct way only if we search in the right data. At the end author has wooed the readers to ask such questions, and to find the right answers.
